The U.S. Mission in Gaborone, Botswana is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Warehouse Worker.

The work schedule for this position is:  Full Time – 40 hours per week.  The position may be subject to overtime work, which will be accordingly compensated.

Start date:  Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or his/her candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position:  No

Duties:  Works independently and as part of the supply and warehouse team to serve customers with lifting, carrying, and moving light to extremely heavy objects from place to place.  Employee is actively involved in the make-readies of residences as well as the preparation and delivery of hospitality kits.  Employee is an integral component of embassy efforts to ensure that United State Government (USG) property is received, issued, inventoried, and disposed according to USG regulations.  Incumbent will regularly drive a forklift, car, and heavy-duty truck.

Qualifications and Evaluations  

EDUCATION:  Completion of secondary school required.


EXPERIENCE:  2 years minimum of warehouse or similar manual labor experience required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of regulations governing the receipt, storage, care, movement, and disposal of property.  Knowledge of a variety of materials handling equipment (hand tools and vehicles).


LANGUAGE:  Level 3 English (Good Working Knowledge) reading/writing/speaking is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Must be able to perform strenuous physical work and be able to lift up to 75 pounds without job aids.  Must have some basic computer skills and be familiar with email and word processing.  Must have a valid driver’s license to drive passenger vehicles, large trucks, and forklifts.   “This may be tested”

Qualifications:  Local prescriptive privileges must be acquired.  All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
