Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for posts of Veterinary Officer on grade C1 in the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Veterinary Services tenable at Jwaneng, Shakawe. Hukuntsi, Nata. Tsabong, Kanye, Selibe Phikwe, Gaborone, Letlhakeng, Mochudi, Gumare and Ramokgwebane)
Salary Scale: C1 (P183, 408.00 to P218 184.00 per annum)

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and the employee 50%).
Contributory Pension Fund Scheme (Government pays 15% and the employee 5%.)

Degree in Veterinary Medicine or its equivalent.
All applicants MUST be registered with the Botswana Veterinary Surgeons Council.

Main Purpose of the Job
Implement investigation and animal diseases control in the District.

Key Performance Areas
• Plans and supervises animal vaccination campaigns and logistics
• Investigates, diagnoses and treat animal diseases
• Advises farmers and pet owners on appropriate diseases control for their animals
• Ensures quarantines and diseases control infrastructures are maintained to high standards
• Supervises the destruction of animals that are a disease risk
• Issues veterinary certificate for international movement of animals and animal by-products
• Carries out diseases surveillance through inspection of animals, collection of samples and analysis of results and advices accordingly
• Ensures that animal disease movement control is strictly following laid down regulations
• Teaches and advices farmers and extension staff on good animal husbandry techniques, government policies and schemes to assist them
• Promote formation of farmers groups, organizes meetings, agricultural shows, field days for more efficient extension
