Role Purpose

Reporting to Senior Development Officer, the successful candidate will be assigned to carry out the section’s activities of providing teacher development services such as providing guidance to teachers, answering enquiries and queries relating to registration and licensing qualifications and CPD requirements, verifying teacher qualifications and CPD status of applicants and recommending actions for licensing and registration gaps and contribution to the development of departmental targets and improvements to processes and procedures.

The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development of the CPD framework.

  • Assist with screening of non-compliant registration or licensing applications, submitted to the Teacher development unit.

  • Collate, compile information and receipts as per procedure.

  • Recommend teachers for registration or licensing in line with policy and procedure.

  • Draft teacher development plans to bridge registration and licensing requirements for approval by supervisor.

  • Produce daily printout list of completed teacher development plans and other training advice rendered.

  • Produce records of documentation pending assessment and development recommendations, along with justifications.

  • File records in a practical yet accessible records system for the unit.

  • Serve as the first level of unit support on any enquiries relating to teacher development.

  • Send out standard correspondence to communicate application status relating to teacher qualifications and CPD.

  • Request additional documents to confirm or verify information.

  • Liaise with accreditation or education intuitions on qualifications.

  • Refer any breaches in Ethics and Standards to the relevant authority within the Council.

  • Pro-actively communicate any delays, problems in the teacher development processes and providing solutions to rectify delays.

  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports including statistics on teacher development for submission to immediate supervisor.

  • Statistical data reported is accompanied by suggestions and recommendations.

  • Monitor office stocks and initiates requisitions for office requirements as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Education or related field. An additional qualification in Human Resources Management will be an added advantage.

  • A minimum of two (2) years post qualifying experience.
