SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR- PALAPYE (X1)
In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 03 March 2024.
Main purpose of the position
To receive and direct incoming and outgoing calls efficiently and effectively through the switchboard in a professional, courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Corporation at all times.
Job Responsibilities
- Uses the internal communications system to access required information for specific purposes.
- Interacts courteously to maintain a positive client experience.
- Takes messages on behalf of staff and ensures that they reach the relevant staff member.
- Makes calls on behalf of personnel and records details of the call and the caller on a register for reconciliation by IS department.
- Answers calls and directs them to the control room and call centre after working hours so that calls are captured.
- Reviews, verifies and enters data into standard company systems e.g. updating internal directory.
- Reports defects or malfunctions to the supervisor or service provider in a timely manner and ensures that all lines are working
- Collects and distributes telephone Directory for use by staff
- Sorting and distribution of cell phone vouchers
- Processes payments and monitors usage of utilities
- Receives internal and external calls and directs them to the relevant departments and personnel.
- Directs visitors and other customers to relevant offices and departments.
- Responds to basic enquiries and queries and transfer calls to the relevant personnel and departments where necessary.
- Performs prescribed procurement activities using existing procedures to support others.
- Facilitates procurement of business cards
Qualifications
- Diploma in Secretarial Studies
Experience
- At least two years in switchboard operations in a medium to large organisation
