Purpose of the Role

To provide strategic leadership for the Sesiro Insurance Company in the financial function, translating business financial strategy into action plans and statutory requirements to ensure achievement of business objectives.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Formulates the department’s medium and long term strategic plan to meet the organisational business objectives.
  • Identifies, develops and institutionalizes organizational capabilities that will enable sustainable competitive advantage
  • Provides input towards the development of the Sesiro Insurance Company Strategic Business Plan (SBP) in line with the long-term corporate strategy
  • Interprets and integrates financial needs across the business to develop the financial framework aligned to the attainment of the business plan.
  • Manages the Company’s Financial and Accounting strategy to facilitate optimal functioning of and alignment to the Sesiro Strategic Business Plan.
  • Reviews and approves Policies and Procedures developed within the function to ensure a sound internal control environment.
  • Facilitates the final decision making process at Senior Management Level by interpreting and integrating information with organisational needs and strategic business objectives.
  • Facilitates effective cash flow management to ensure the sufficient funds to meet the current needs of the organization.
  • Directs the development and implementation of financial systems and processes to optimize accountability effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Reviews and approves Year End Financial Reports.
  • Supports the service management framework for the Department and ensures standardization of services delivered to the business.
  • Develops processes, measures and procedures to ensure world class quality financial service delivery.
  • Develops financial management mechanisms that minimize business risks.
  • Advises on financial best practice principles and parameters supporting the strategic business plan.
  • Monitors developments in the corporate governance discipline to ensure compliance and adherence to corporate governance principles as well as appropriate aspects of prevailing best practices through research and knowledge management techniques
  • Secretarial Services

  • Adheres to safety, health and environmental programmes in area of responsibility
  • Implements sectional talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localisation/succession, training and development plans.
  • Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
  • Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting

Experience

8 years’ post-qualification experience with at least 3 years managing a financial and/or accounting function.

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

  • FCCA/FCMA or equivalent
  • BICA and/or ICAEW membership
