Senior Technical Environment Engineer

To ensure Orange Botswana meet their Energy consumptions and Carbon emission targets. In addition, the position will be responsible for leading and creating the global strategy definition for the Technical Environment (Power and cooling) domain and inputs towards company climate strategy.

The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Planning, Optimization, and technical environment capacity dimensioning to support the business.
  • Work with the engineering teams to manage the end-to-end think and build of the Power and cooling of the sites and data centres.
  • Manage projects within the Technical Environment domains to ensure excellent executions within agreed timelines and on budget.
  • Formulating an operational plan for the technical environment and support on technical environment operational activities.
  • Proposes ways to optimize the existing Technical Environment solutions using existing equipment or, where necessary, new equipment for a robust and resilient network.
  • To document and maintain a robust database of Technical Environment assets to manage equipment obsolescence.
  • To manage the CAPEX and OPEX budget within the technical environment domain.
  • To manage all the related procurement with the technical environment domain.
  • Define and manage the Green Energy Strategy of Orange Botswana to ensure the amount of CO2 emissions generated from its daily operations are reduced significantly and with respect to agreed targets.
  • Give regular reports to management on necessary Technical Environment studies recommendations for planned/ proposed projects (feasibility studies).
  • Guide and oversee development of technical environment teams for efficient performance.
  • Develop process and procedures for technical environment
  • Set and deliver target for Energy consumption and Carbon emissions.
  • Set and deliver target of Green Energy according the Orange Group guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Electronic/Electrical/Telecommunication/IT.
  • A Masters Degree would be an added advantage.
  • 4years of experience in Telecommunications working in the Technical Environment domain.
