Reporting to the Mine Manager Geology, this position is responsible for design, construction, and management of the Motheo projects geological, geo-metallurgical and other related block models.
Reporting to the Mine Manager Geology, this position is responsible for design, construction, and management of the Motheo projects geological, geo-metallurgical and other related block models. Statistical analysis in support of operations as well as assisting with the management of the geological wireframes and database will also be key areas of focus.
Key Performance Areas
- Commitment to safety and demonstrates effective safety leadership.
- Maintain and update existing resource and grade control wireframes using implicit modelling software packages (Leapfrog).
- Develop best practice process for the development of all block models and shared block models for resource and grade control purposes.
- Monitors databases, systems and statistics to maintain quality of grade control standards and provide advice and training to geological staff where required.
- Collate review and report on geostatistical data as it relates to mine production.
- Maintain constant peer (internal and external) review of models. This includes developing and maintaining cohesive model reports and sign offs for block model handovers.
- Ensures maximum value in the resource extraction process and can support this by maintaining up to date reconciliations.
- Assist Business Development Team on projects.
- Assist in the development of and maintain knowledge about model to production reconciliation.
- Assist in the review and modelling of external data as required.
- Promote continuous improvement in all facets of the geology department.
- Train and mentor Geology staff.
Technical Competencies
- Mineral Resources Estimation techniques. Proficiency with Datamine software highly regarded.
- Geological modelling. Advanced Leapfrog Modelling skills highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of the collection, storage, and interpretation of geological information as it related to resources modelling techniques.
- Sound knowledge of drilling, mining methods; grade control systems and procedures; resources modelling techniques and related software.
- Good oral, written and presentation skills.
- QA/QC Principles.
- Database Management.

Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor of Mineral Science or equivalent
- Competent Person (CP) under either JORC, NI 43-101 or SAMREC code
- Five or more years working as a resource estimation geologist within operating mine(s).
