This position is responsible for design, construction, and management of the Motheo projects geological geo-metallurgical and other related block models.

Reporting to the Mine Manager Geology, this position is responsible for statistical analysis in support of operations as well as assisting with the management of the geological wireframes and database will also be key areas of focus.

Key Performance Areas

  • Maintain a validated and updated geological database required for geological modelling.
  • 100% Compliance with SFR’s OHS policies and procedures.
  • Collation of daily drill and costing data from field staff.
  • Compilation, migration and loading of collar, survey, sampling, assay, geological and related data into SQL database with best practice QA QC.
  • Maintain and produce weekly and monthly drill, sampling and assay statistics, accruals, and reports.
  • Positively contributes to the Company’s safety culture.
  • Create and maintain SQL/BI reports.
  • Maintain software configuration (DataShed, LogChief, QAQCR, Ocris, Sample Dispatch Tool, Change Request Tool and Data Validation Tool and equivalents).
  • Backup and restore databases.
  • Maintain client relationships and ensuring trust and integrity in the data.
  • Keep ledger books showing data captured onto database.
  • Files, archives, and maintains all reports electronically (Document Management).
  • Manages data flow within the Section and between departments.
  • Manages a secure data repository for all Geology Production datasets.
  • Designs templates in use and makes sure they are available and accessible.
  • Validates and makes corrections to captured data in consultation with Geologists.
  • Liaise with Production Geologists regarding submitted data to discuss observed anomalies.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficient in Datashed
  • Competence in writing T-SQL
  • Competence in SQL Reporting/BI
  • Experience in using the Microsoft Azure environment.
  • Managing database objects using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

Qualification & Experience

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 8 years post qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Background in mining practices is desirable however not essential.
