Purpose of the Role
To provide Mine Survey technical support, development and implementation of initiatives to ensure achievement of the overall business objectives and strategic plans of the Section
Key Job Responsibilities
- Analyses the sectional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet business needs.
- Implements the section’s procedures, processes, systems and overall quality control to ensure compliance to governance requirements
- Validates and approves volumetric calculations for production reporting purposes
- Reviews and validates the re-depletion on new resources to inform the resource estimation and planning process
- Reviews the mine plan validation process against the reserve model
- Validates the survey monthly production performance data (i.e. depletions, carat reconciliations, and variation analysis) and ensures accuracy of the monthly Production Statistics report
- Contributes to the mine value chain reconciliation processes
- Performs resource/reserve reconciliation as per requirements (monthly, quarterly and annually) and eventual generation of the Resource/Reserve Statement
- Provides Mine Survey technical support to both internal and external stakeholders across the mine value chain in alignment to the operation’s requirements
- Designs the underground survey mine survey networks
- Undertakes GYRO check surveys to maintain accuracy of the survey reference network
- Undertakes underground mine surveys
- Undertakes shaft/decline sinking alignment surveys
- Updates underground production and development plans
- Collects and processes scan data from underground measurements for geoscientific analysis
- Collects and analysis underground convergence monitoring data and recommends corrective action
- Analysis 3d borehole direction data advises on corrective action
- Analysis cavity data and develops proximity monitoring plans
- Delivers services to, and reports on, the medium-term mine planning process by:
- • reconciling actual mining against plan and design
- recommending corrective action to the tactical planner if deviations are identified;
- reviewing the tactical plan for spatial and volumetric integrity;
- Recommends and implements appropriate deformation monitoring systems in alignment with Geotechnical requirements
- Designs and implements appropriate survey geodetic control network infrastructure to support current and future deformation monitoring works
- Provides assurance to the deformation monitoring data in accordance to set standards (i.e. trend analysis, reporting)
- Provides assurance to the statutory requirements with respect to the maintenance of survey records and survey plans as per current legislation (i.e. MQWM, Mines and Minerals, Precious and Semi – Precious, Explosives act etc.)
- Implements appropriate spatial data management systems for maintaining up to date general surface and underground plans as a basis for locating all present and future mining infrastructure
- Manages and reports contractor performance and ensures compliance to contract conditions
- Implements safety, health and environmental requirements in area of responsibility
- Ensures customer requirements are met as per the sectional strategic plan survey data acquisition and processing methods

Education
- BSc in Mine Survey or Equivalent
Experience
6 years post qualification experience, 4 of which should be in an Underground Mining Environment with shaft surveying exposure.
Legal Certification/Professional Registration Recognized Professional Membership, e.g. IMSSA,SAGC,ERBB or equivalent
