This position is responsible for updating, implementing, and managing the HR policies at the Motheo Copper Mine.
To ensure expert advice, guidance and consultancy services are provided which contribute to departmental objectives and support a performance, learning and service driven culture. In addition, this position is also responsible for mentoring and upskilling junior HR staff.
Key Performance Areas
- To adopt a proactive and supportive approach to managers in respect of guidance and working methods on individual and organizational development, policies procedures, good practice and working methods necessary to enhance performance.
- Leading and taking full accountability for delivery of both regular and ad-hoc employee related projects.
- Evaluating and updating job descriptions.
- Answering all human resources queries posed by management and employees.
- Training and advising managers on strategies for recruitment, selection, and interview evaluation procedures.
- Assisting with the development of recruitment campaigns, participating in the appointment process for potential employees.
- Monitoring recruitment metrics such as retention rates and staff turnover.
- Discussing terms and conditions of employment and benefits with staff members.
- Reviewing employees’ work progress using an employee appraisal system and making recommendations, if necessary.
- Using HR software to input and compile data on employees and updating the records regularly.
- Updating HR policies in line with current legislation and informing staff about changes.
Technical Competencies
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at different levels, including senior staff members.
- Has a strong understanding of Botswana Labour Law
- Proven leadership ability.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Working knowledge of HR systems and software.
- The ability to research, analyze, and make logical decisions within a given timeframe.

Qualification & Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field such as Labour Relations.
- A minimum of 8 years’ proven work experience in general human resources environment.
- At least 2 years’ experience in middle management role.
