Main purpose of the position
- To prepare technical drawings, diagrams, maps and updates drawings to aid in construction and maintenance in accordance with set specifications, standards and safety procedures to ensure optimal plant availability.
Job Responsibilities
- Carries out the designs and the drawings of the corporation reticulation system, staff houses, offices and other structural, mechanical and electrical work of the corporation.
- Performs prescribed facilities management activities by following existing procedures to support others.
- Monitors the construction of buildings to ensure conformity to the design plan.
- Identifies shortcomings in current compliance processes, systems and procedures; develops ad hoc solutions to immediate problems within assigned unit and/or discipline.
- Amends and updates drawings and technical specifications and prepares technical drawings in order to incorporate changes in plant and buildings, in accordance with specifications.
- Reviews schematic database, initiates and follows up on remedial action to ensure drawings are up to date.
- Manages the maintenance of an up-to-date design database and filing system to ensure information and design availability.
- Regularly updates the drawings database and ensures that copies of designs are filled appropriately and are accurately referenced on the database.
- Retrieves designs as and when requested.
- Works independently to collate and analyse data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats.
- Produces accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting that data into standard formats.
- Carries out prescribed internal client management activities and provides support to others by following existing procedures.
- Identifies shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, then uses established change management programs to deliver prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services
- Delivers required outcomes by working within an established project management plan.
- Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.
- Participates in safety inspections and reports on findings to maintain safety of personnel and good housekeeping of the plant.
Qualifications
- A recognized Diploma in Construction or equivalent.
Certification in Auto CAD is required.
Experience
- At least five (5) years post qualification of which two (2) years should have been served as a Draughtsperson.
