Role Purpose

Reporting to Manager, Teacher Development, the successful candidate will be assigned to coordinate, supervise and execute the section’s activities, ensuring adherence to procedure, while monitoring performance and guiding the work of the Teacher Development Officer(s) to facilitate the continued development of teachers.

Key Performance Areas

  • Up-to-date teacher development records.

  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

  • Adherence to Council policies and procedures.

The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development of the CPD framework.

  • Contribute to the production of clear guidelines giving the minimum teaching accreditation requirements for registration and licensing.

  • Contribute to the production of accredited continuous development programmes on which teachers enroll to uphold and upgrade their professionalism.

  • Receive registered applications which from registration and licensing that are non-compliant due to professional continuous learning recommendations.

  • Identify gaps in teacher competence. based on application information.

  • Respond to escalated enquires and queries relating to teacher qualifications and CPD requirements.

  • Provide advice to teachers on personal development plans, highlighting priorities that enable the teacher to prepare for and meet registration and licensing requirements.

  • Monitor the review process of non-compliant applications received from The Teacher Registration and licensing units and intervene to give needed support and guidance.

  • Monitor the turn-around time of the review process and gives feedback to enforce the standard.

  • Give performance feedback to Teacher Development Officer and provides coaching and guidance.

  • Acts as liaison with other departmental units and maintain open communications.

  • Liaise with IT to ensure the systems processes align with the requirements of the function and escalate issues of error or down-time where applicable.

  • Follows up, resolve, and give feedback on complaints from both internal and external customers.

  • Facilitate teacher induction programmes for new teachers in the profession.

  • Consolidate monthly report and present these to management.

  • Statistical data reported is accompanied by suggestions and recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Education or related field. An additional qualification in Human Resources Management will be an added advantage.

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in teacher development and training. Supervisory experience will be an added advantage.
