BBS Limited (BBSL or “the Company”) is a financial institution whose head office is in Gaborone, Botswana, with the principal business of residential and commercial property finance. The Company is in the process of converting to commercial banking.
BBSL requires an individual with a bank cards management background to assume the role of Senior Cards Manager. The role provides strategic leadership to the Cards Business Unit, which although semi-autonomous, will have a dotted line reporting relationship with the Head of Projects and Strategy.
The role assumes responsibility for the leadership, direction, management and execution of the overall strategy of the cards business. The jobholder will oversee the development and achievement of the cards strategic business unit’s revenue and profit targets. The incumbent will identify new card products and their marketing requirements. In addition, the person monitors client satisfaction and ensures efficient transaction processing, using smart processes and the latest technology, so that the Company is the preferred cards service provider. The jobholder ensures that the cards business functions are in line with regulatory and compliance guidelines and sets the long-term vision of the cards business and guides achievement of both the financial and non-financial targets of the unit.
The duties of the Senior Cards Manager will include the following –
1. Business Processes and Customer Satisfaction
a. Identifies new procedures and ensures ongoing improvement of existing operational procedures for the Cards Unit.
b.Explores avenues for continuous improvement in productivity, customer service and operations processes, using the latest process optimization and defect minimization techniques.
c.Strives to exceed customer expectations with competitive products, people and technology services.
2 . Financial Performance of the Cards Business Unit
a. Ensures efficient management of the financial performance of the business unit by –
•maximizing growth in operating profits
3. Leadership and Direction of Human Capital in the Cards Business Unit
a.Formulates policies and devises strategies for the cards business
b.Conducts performance reviews and monitors employee attitudes, productivity and performance outcomes.
c.Provides coaching and training of cards managers / team leaders to enhance their professional skills, and promotes achievement of service requirements and understanding of business requirements.
d.Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure that team members are well informed of changes in policies and procedures.
a.Stays informed of developments and innovations in the cards industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors degree in business administration / management, banking, finance or information systems.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of the cards business in the banking and financial services industry.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Minimum of five to eight years of experience in the cards business, 3 of which were at management level.
