SECURITY OPERATIONS LEAD X1 (GABORONE)

Main purpose of the position
To plan and lead the implementation of security operations policies and procedures to ensure optimum security protection measures for BPC Personnel, Customers, Assets, Facilities and Intellectual property at all times. To reduce asset losses and provide assurance by developing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring security management systems to minimize security risks exposure such as theft, fraud and vandalism.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides technical and systems tools, standards, procedures, assurance, processes and general performance management across
- Develops, reviews and ensures the implementation of security procedures in compliance with legislative requirements, standards, policies and corporate governance principles.
- Implements security policies and procedures for cost effective and efficient protection of Corporation’s assets, personnel and customers.
- Coordinates investigations on security breaches and incidents involving Corporation property, intellectual property, employees and customers, reports to Security Operations Manager with recommendations on findings picked.
- To monitor the security Control Centre interlinking all security systems across BPC Offices through remote network connectivity for bolstering physical security.
- Coordinates the periodic maintenance of the security fences.
- Monitors compliance to regulatory requirements by employees and Contractors and makes recommendations.
- Conducts periodic assessment to determine deviations or weaknesses from the standards, policy, procedures, practices, and technologies and thus take appropriate mitigation measures within agreed timelines to minimise potential losses and inform the risk profile.
- Provides first line support for the command control and coordination of incidents for early emergency management
- Initiates and coordinates the implementation of projects in line with the project management framework.
- Coordinates and recommends selection and outsourcing of external security services providers and monitors adherence to agreed service level agreements and contractual obligations.
- Drives the security activities of the Corporation, in accordance with the BPC’s minimum security standards enabling business plan objectives to be achieved.
- Provides input to Security Operations Manager for the development and implementation of the security strategic plan in line with the Corporation Strategy.
- Reviews policies, standards within the corporation, to ensure complete compliance set requirements and procedures.
- Facilitates the investigations requiring technical expertise and prepare reports and follows up action.
- Reports any significant security breaches to the Security Operations Manager; undertake full investigation; recommend course of action in consultation with Security Operations Manager
- Works independently to collate and analyze data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats.
- Delivers required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers and working within an established contract management plan.
- Supports small internal customers to ensure their needs are met and/or helps senior colleagues manage client relationships.
- Assists the Security Operations Manager in analysing sectional financial needs to develop the annual Department budget.
- Effectively manages and control the sectional budget and provide accurate information to the when required.
- Organises the section and determines manpower requirements in accordance with approved manpower budget and ceilings.
- Provides advice on designing new processes and systems to achieve professional standards and desired outcomes.
- Delivers own prescribed outcomes and/or provides support services by using the organisations safety, health and environment systems and protocols.
- Carries out on-the-job training in order to increase the flexibility, efficiency and capability of the team.
- Manages the motivation and discipline of staff in area of responsibility in line with laid down procedures to realize the Corporation’s objectives
- Manages the performance of the team by working within a performance management system
Qualifications
- A recognised Degree in Security Management or related area.
- Certification in security management. (PSP, CPP, CSMP and related) as an added advantage.
- Membership of recognized professional security institution or association.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years experience in security operations.
- At least three years should have been at management level
