Job Summary
To drive exceptional achievement of Sales and Service within the business unit targets to maximize profitability by managing sales activity levels in line with the Distribution Tied Strategy
Role Responsibilities
Sales Activity and Performance Management
- Monitors monthly sales target achievement with each FA in the team.
- Holds weekly and monthly 1-1 sales activity management discussions with FA’s to monitor and give feedback on achievement of sales against targets, quality of sales (NOC, persistency % rates, API and NTU rate)
- Motivates and Communicates regional sales competitions to FA’s to increase sales productivity in the team.
- Supervises take-up of the new sales platform in the team and the compliance to sales IT processes and procedures.
- Up-skill and re-train existing FA’s (nominate FA’s to attend sales refresher training, product re-accreditation or any relevant training needed to meet sales targets).
Financial Management
- Manages the sales team’s budget and do expense management.
- Reports to BSM on budget issues, projections and expenses.
- Manages cost savings initiatives and to create cost awareness culture within the region.
- Ensures that all FA’s understand their commission statements.
- Validates aggregation ID reports before commission run
Operational Management
- Accounts for the profitability and success of the sales team in line with the regional business plans.
- Formulates tactical plan and implements vision of the region and to manage it downwards to direct reports (FA’s).
- Inspiring FA’s to be professional in their sales conduct and to be a brand ambassador for Botswana Life.
- To assist FA’s to build their portfolio and strengthening their client base.
- Assist BSM to identify and segment regional worksites and to effectively allocate FA’s to specific work sites according to the Sales Tier they function in (market segmentation).
Recruitment & Vesting of FAs
- Identifies, head hunt, recruit suitable sales people that meet the requirements of a FA position as to build an effective sales team. To inform the Distribution HR Manager of suitable candidates for selection and appointment.
- Ensures all newcomers in your team attend the Training Academy Business Orientation and Newcomer Training Programme in week 1 of the month
- Conducts Branch Induction and Orientation with the newcomer in week 2 of their appointment.
- Meet weekly with newcomer to assist him/her in his vesting process as per the guidelines given in the Newcomer Vesting Guide.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Manages the strict compliance to the relevant regulatory and legislative requirements that is applicable and impacts FA’s.
- Ensure that FA’s (newcomers and vested FA’s) complete their Legislation and Product Accreditation and adhere to the regulatory requirements to be fit and proper for their role.
- Do supervision in the field with FA’s that are under supervision and scrutinize all cases submitted by newcomers who are still working under supervision.
- Report any FA who is failing to meet regulatory requirements and who might put a compliance risk on the team, region and company.
Leave Management
- Manage personal annual leave and ensure compliance with the Leave Management Policy
Experience & Role-Specific Knowledge
- Degree in Business Management or related qualification
- 3 years post qualification ( experience in the Sales and Marketing management
- COP mandatory
- Experience in managing a team of sales people
- Knowledge and understanding of life insurance industry
