Purpose of the Role

Implement Occupational Safety management programme and best practice guidance to the operation in line with operational requirements and facilitates the implementation of effective Occupational Safety management systems to enhance the maturity level of the operation.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Compiles Occupational Safety reports and statistics in line with legal and other requirements
  • Contributes input for reporting on performance and ensure data integrity in the data management systems
  • Coordinates internal assessments against the Occupational Safety standards and provides internal assurance against set standards
  • Coordinates the development of action plans and maintenance of an effective Occupational Safety management system to support the strategy
  • Coordinates the risk management process within the operation in order to minimize the Occupational Safety risk profile and maximize the realization of opportunity for the operation
  • Drives continual improvement through best practice identification and innovative solutions
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives
  • Evaluates, analyzes, plans and coordinates the implementation of interventions to address emerging Occupational Safety risks
  • Facilitates the implementation of the operations management plans in line with the Debswana Occupational Safety Strategy
  • Implements Occupational Safety key performance indicators to achieve set performance targets for the operation in line with corporate targets
  • Implements individual development plans and manage variance
  • Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
  • Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved budgets

  • Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent


4 years post qualification experience with 2 years in occupational safety.
