Retail Operation Manager

Role exists to build and grow sales while developing and implementing business solutions and/ or strategies to increase the revenue of the Company through existing/new products and solutions. The retail operations manager will lead the sales team by providing guidance, training, mentorship and setting sales targets and goals to increase new business while growing current business. Monitoring of all related sales policies and procedures, their effectiveness in the current business to assist in building a successful sales team, and coordinating with the marketing department on lead generation

– Managing sales by developing a business plan that covers sales, revenue, and expense controls.
– To meet/ achieve assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in the country.
– Supervise branch managers and ensure optimal branch productivity.
– Manage and develop the team to meet/exceed new prospect sales and retention goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
– Monitor daily operations to ensure a free flow process and also supervise the execution of daily tasks including processing of loans with high standards of accuracy.
– Prepare regular (monthly, quarterly, and annual) reports.
– Conduct branch audits on a monthly and quarterly basis and ensure all action points are closed within agreed timelines.
– Manage centralized procurement for all branches.
– Liaise with IT department to ensure all required IT infrastructure is in place and functional at all times.
– Recommend strategies for improving operations of the sales department and image of the brand.
– Liaise with marketing to develop and execute campaigns and tactical plans to support the business sales strategy and communicate the progress both internally and externally.
– Proactive assessment, clarification and validation of customer needs on an ongoing basis.
– Ensure customer service is at the highest levels and the brand is promoted
– Maintain an expert level of understanding of all products and services offered by the company
– Create a strong workforce by developing competent individuals in the branch operations team.
– Delegate tasks to members of the branch teams and ensure that daily tasks are executed and reported accurately.
– Ensure ongoing training of the whole sales team.
– Identify, attract and pursue prospective customers through optimal utilization of sales tea
– research and develop marketing opportunities and plan by understanding customer requirements, identifying market opportunities, and suggesting system improvements to achieve the companies marketing goals.
– Lead and manage sales team (including agents) through team leaders, branch managers (and regional managers if applicable) throughout the country.
– Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports and ensure they do the same for their teams, this includes positive motivation and performance evaluation, coaching, providing regular feedback, communication of goals, checking achievements, leading regular team calls, etc.
– Ensure recruitment, retaining and development is taking place within Botswana sales team to ensure the country succeeds in achieving results.
– Maintain clear communication lines and a sense of camaraderie with sales team from a distance.
– Conduct regular meetings with the sales teams to ensure they are meeting expectations and are on target and that there is a continuous tracking and monitoring of sales team performance.
– Ensure sales team promote company and products.
– Stay up-to date with internal and external developments and suggest new ways to increase sales.
– Ensure a High-Performance culture and tools are fully embedded in the sales team to ensure maximum sales effectiveness

– Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Sales & Marketing or related field.
– COP-Long Term Insurance
– Other tertiary qualification in business or related field is advantageous.
– Three (3) to five (5) years sales experience in finance field or equivalent with proven track record
– Previous experience in Microfinance, financial services or insurance sector will be advantageous.
– Experience in customer relationship management
– Experience in managing & directing a sales teams
– Understanding of business software tools including ERP, Service Desk and BI tools and OSSNET
– Proficiency in MS Suite applications
– In-depth understanding of sales performance metrics
