Role Purpose

Botswana Life is looking for suitably qualified candidates to fill in the role of Relationship Manager: Affluent, to drive exceptional sales and service nationally for the Affluent segments distribution targets, including Sharia and Fiduciary. The role also exists to plan, control and execute new business acquisition and maintenance activities so as to maximize profitability of the affluent customer base nationally. Further to build the affluent department to a world class advisory and financial planning service centre (train and groom advisers to high standards of financial advice and enhance and contributes to the development of affluent products for Botswana market).

Role Responsibilities


  • Contributes to and implements the BLIL Affluent sales, service and professional advice strategy to support the successful achievement of the company’s strategic objectives.

Business Results

  • Drives sales performance objectives nationally, together with high service standards for the affluent segments.
  • Ensure right levels of representatives are maintained in order to drive sales.
  • Ensure acquisition of new clients and set up new intermediaries to grow the business.
  • Maintains sound relationships with advisors, pay-points, strategic partners, influential stakeholders.
  • Manages the product mix sales tactics in order to positively influence operational profitability, growth of VNB, APE and market share within the branch locality.
  • Regular tracking and reporting on regional sales activity and overall performance.

Business Relationship

  • Enhancement of Affluent sales advisors/brokers positioning in the market to align to customer needs as per customer expectations as per BLIL segments.
  • Engages with stakeholders nationally to improve relationships. understand our clients (Advisors and Employers)’ operating environment, Promote Fiduciary and Shariah cohesion within the sales environment.
  • Participates in Business conferences and seminars to increase networking opportunities and ensure corporate citizenship within the business environment.
  • Creates and nurture relationships with Affluent pay-points and other critical stakeholders to facilitate the sales process.
  • Develops and maintains profitable relationships with various stakeholders nationally.

Cost Management

  • Contributes to the development of budget and manages the regions expense budget, achievement of set income targets within agreed expense budgets.

Quality Business Results

  • Develops and implements sales processes to measure Affluent sales quality to improve profitability.
  • Recommend improvement initiatives around sales to contribute towards improvement on lapses.
  • Provide Distribution management with reports and drives production to bring profitability.

Governance and Quality Assurance

  • Implement policies which are in place to support the Distribution sales environment.
  • Ensure delivery of operational services in accordance with Service Level Agreements established within the business, including those of the technical partners, fiduciary, Sharia and offshore investment structuring.
  • Adherence to regulation, risk management tactics and laid out processes, guidelines  and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with internal process, regulation and influences/implements positive Risk management tactics, re-engineering processes with sales to improve sales effectiveness.

Business Continuity

  • Ensure the whole regions readiness in case of disaster by implementing set business continuity tactics.

People Management

  • Maintains and implements the acquisition teams penetration strategies, processes and tactics to meet the needs of the Affluent customers (all segments, Shariah, Fiduciary) with the most economic deployment of human and financial resources within the branch locality.
  • Drive performance through planning and regular review of representatives.
  • Managing and driving the Affluent Sales Managers’ for the achievement of sales targets.

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics or Business plus Wealth Management or Financial planning specialization.
