Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has an opportunity for a seasoned trader to take up the role of a Regional General Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in commerce, business management, entrepreneurship, retail management or any related fields.
  • At least ten (10) years management experience within the FMCG sector; and at least three (3) years’ work experience at a senior management level.
  • Proficient in interpreting and using financial statements and general management reports.
  • A strong retail background having dealt with, and managed, different product categories.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills necessary to achieve key performance indicators within the FMCG business environment.
  • Be able to manage and motivate a management team to enhance the team’s productivity.
  • Be able to assess the market and exploit opportunities to enhance business performance.
  • Be decisive and able to resolve customer queries, supplier queries, and employee issues.
  • Be able to establish and maintain good stakeholder relationships with all key stakeholders.
  • In possession of a Class B driver’s license.

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Retail, the position holder will:

  • Communicate the company’s business strategy to his teams and align their business activities to the strategy.
  • Coach and support management teams to implement strategic initiatives in their branches.
  • Supervise a team of line managers to enhance their productivity and business performance.
  • Review management reports to assess business performance against the set performance targets and propose remedial actions.
  • Develop action plans for the team members and review/assess progress on a regular basis.
  • Investigate new/under-exploited business opportunities to enhance business performance.
  • Meet the sales revenue, gross profit, stockholdings, and stock loss targets set for the region.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders for the benefit of the business.
