Meantime, because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, SKMTH has been designated a COVID-19 Isolation and Treatment Centre by the Government of Botswana with the University of Botswana being tasked with recruitment for the project

Specification
Main Purpose of the Job: Following the orders of a physician, responsible for general technical diagnostic imaging performed throughout the hospital in area of specialty using radiation in the form of x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, computerized axial tomography (CAT) and positron emission tomography (PET) and ultrasound. Often part of a medical or surgical team, radiographers are typically involved in initial patient evaluation and testing, providing diagnostic and evidentiary data for physicians.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Following the direction from a physician, performs general technical diagnostic imaging throughout the hospital in area of specialty. May include general radiology, special procedures such as tomography, portable bedside and operating room procedures, etc.
•Provides quality diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist.
•Assumes responsibility for total patient care and safety while patient is being x-rayed (i.e., minimize exposure to x-ray if possible).
•Performs basic routine testing of equipment on a preventive maintenance basis.
•Corrects completion of requisition forms and proper identification of all x-ray films or other diagnostic images.
•Maintains the equipment, making minor adjustments and reporting problems to the proper channels.
•Talks with patients before procedures, taking notes for medical records.
•Shields patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.
•May supervise visiting staff and patients in radiation work areas.
•May help in more complex radiological examinations, working with doctors such as radiologists and surgeons.
Requirements
Qualifications Required: Radiological Technology Course Certification.
Experience: At least three (3) years’ experience in hospital environment.
