Title: Project Manager – Civil (3 Year Fixed Term Contract)

Purpose of the Role
Responsible for the planning, management of cross-functional teams, progress reporting and delivery of individual or a combination of various related Stay in Business Projects or Business Improvement Projects of a value generally lower than P1 billion as an individual project or as a group of projects.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Set-up of required controls to ensure delivery against these standards and the objectives as defined in the project charter
- Develops integrated cross-functional Project Execution Plans including inter alia Scope definition (Detailed work breakdown structure), Execution Strategy, Commissioning & Operational Readiness plan, Change Management plan and Close-out Plan
- Sets-up Project for success by providing Alignment on roles and responsibilities with senior leadership and client (operations) and setting up Performance orientated agreements with external partners.
- Provides Effective safety leadership and behaviour modelling for the project team, contractors and construction workforce and Shapes the reward and recognition programs including personal involvement in recognition opportunities.
- Ensures transparent reporting of progress supported by Quality Assessment of the data collection process, Analysis and interpretation of root cause of variance and details remedial actions and forecasted impact to the project.
- Provides effective leadership and management of cross-functional team to deliver project against objectives as defined in the project charter.
Other Job Responsibilities
- Identifies, coordinates and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements
- Interprets operational requirements and integrates with discipline base financial needs to ensure availability of financial resources to meet business objectives
- Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls the expenditure within approved parameters
- Oversees implementation of the departmental talent management initiatives, ensuring the effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localisation, training and development plans; recruiting and placing engineers
- Maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives
- Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Develops and manages talent for the discipline – this includes succession plans, mentor programs, performance management and any other applicable interventions
- Coordinates & manages the Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures in area of responsibility as well as compliance to the statutory requirements such as stipulated in the Mines, Works, Quarries and Machinery Act (MWQM)
- Adheres to all safety health and environmental policies and procedures in areas of responsibility
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering
- Project Management Certification in good standing (Costing, Planning, Earned Value Management, Estimating, etc.) in related field will be an added advantage in Project Management Qualification
Experience
8 years of experience in the following:
• Construction / Engineering Project Management environment
• Construction management experience
• General management experience
• Contractor Management
• Technical areas – Engineering (Civil & Structural)
• Project execution in Mining and related operations environment.
• Technical areas – Geology, Mining, Metallurgy, Engineering
• Project execution in Mining and related operations environment.
Legal Certification/Professional Registration
- Registration with Engineering Registration Board (ERB) or equivalent
