Purpose of the Role

Provide Civil and Structural Engineering input to the project(s), monitor and control Civil and Structural Engineeing work streams during Study and Implementation phases.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates safety leadership, sustainable development
  • Facilitates the development of project civil and structural specifications and design criteria
  • Documents client requirements specific to Civil and Structural Infrastructure
  • Provides Civil and Structural technical advice and oversight as required in the Project(s)
  • Develops scope of works for Civil and Structural Workstreams and participates in technical adjudications for the selection of Consultants, Contractors and Vendors.
  • Manages Civil and Structural Consultants, Contractors and Vendors on Project designs, fabrications and installations
  • Participates in Design Reviews, Constructability Reviews, Maintainability Reviews, Value Engineering Reviews related to Civil and Structural work streams and makes recommendations for optimization
  • Manages Stakeholders to provide technical support and input for projects
  • Participates in peer review audits and pre-project benchmarking at various operations to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge on the implementation of safety, health and environmental programmes

Education

  • Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Experience

Minimum 7 years post qualification experience, 3 of which should have been spent as a Civil Engineer/Structural Engineer. Proof of registration with ERB

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

  • ERB Registration

Technical Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates consistent expertise / mastery in Civil and Structural Engineering
  • Technical Planning: Sees the bigger strategic picture and has the ability to assess impact of technical decisions over the broader context of the mine’s long term sustainability and lifecycle
  • Technical Learning: Adaptable fast learner able to keep abreast of the developments in the field of Civil and Structural Engineering
