Vacancy: Principal Physiotherapist II – Special Education, D3 Salary Scale (Department of Special Support Services- Maun Centre for Special Education)

Applications are invited from highly motivated and well experienced self-driven citizens of Botswana for the position of Principal Physiotherapist II in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development • Department Special Support Services.

SALARY SCALE: D3 (P293 652 – P323 748 per annum).
LEAVE DAYS: 30 Working Days per Annum

BENEFITS: i) Optional medical aid scheme with the Botswana
Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme (8POMAS
– Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%)
ii) Contributory pension scheme (Government contributes 15% and employee contributes 5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have a minimum of Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:
•Applicants should have a minimum of 6 years’ experience as Physiotherapist, of which 2 years must have been served as Senior Physiotherapist

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
•To assess, treat and rehabilitate learners with physical impairment who are referred for physiotherapy to improve their level of functioning.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
•Conducts diagnostic assessment for learners with physical disabilities to determine the eligibility to special support services.
•Assesses and recommends provision of appropriate appliances for learners with physical disabilities.
•Compiles individualised physiotherapy assessment report to guide in the implementation of interventions and support strategies.
•Provides physical rehabilitation to learners with physical disabilities.
•Par takes in the multidisciplinary assessment and
rehabilitation team
•Plans for various interventions to promote access to education, training and active participation in the school curriculum.
•Undertakes the review of each learner provided with physical therapy.
•Guides teachers and support personnel on the implementation of Individualised Rehabilitation Plans (IRP) and Individualised Educational Plans (lEPs)
•Collaborates with teachers, rehabilitation personnel and other health personnel in the management of learners with physical disabilities.
•Plans and coordinates the provision of outreach school based physiotherapy
•Capacitates parents, teachers and support personnel from the physiotherapy perspective for effective rehabilitation and support of learners with Severe to Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities.
•Maintains and safeguards confidential records of learners.
•Prepares and submits physiotherapy reports to
management in the Centre
