Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Principal Officer.

Role Purpose

Provide overall assurance to the Business, Board of Directors, and Regulatory Authorities on matters relating to internal and regulatory compliance, fraud risk management and legal risks.

Key Performance Areas

  • Participates in the development of business strategy as part of BLIL controllers by virtue of being the Principal Officer.
  • Monitors and ensure that BLIL complies with all relevant statutory, regulatory and licensing requirements.
  • Verifies compliance of all intermediaries such as brokers, corporate agencies, direct agents and all the business units.
  • Develops, implement and maintain effective governance structures, processes, procedures and internal control mechanisms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration, or equivalent plus a professional
    qualification at Associate level in a recognized Insurance institution, e.g. ACII, AIISA, LPA
  • Enterprise Risk management
  • ACAMS

Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years technical experience in the life insurance environment, of which 4 years should have been at managerial level.
  • A good understanding of business operations, processes, and procedures.
  • A good understanding of the insurance industry, regulatory environment and relevant legislative framework. strategic business leadership.

Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrate sound competencies in insurance environment
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of financial services laws
  • Knowledge and skill in compliance management
