Vacancy: Principal Occupational Therapist II
– (Special Education), D3 Salary Scale Department of Special Support Services- Maun Centre for Special Education
Applications are Invited from highly motivated, well experienced and seif – driven qualified candidate for the position of Principal Occupational Therapist II – (Special Education) In the Ministry of Education and Skills Development tenable at Maun Centre for Special Education.
SALARY SCALE: D3 IP293 652 – P323 748 per annum).
LEAVE DAYS: 30 Working Days per Annum
BENEFITS:

QUALIFICATION:
•Applicants should have a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy or Equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
•Applicants should have served for a minimum of 6 years as an Occupational Therapist of which two (2) must have been served as Senior Occupational Therapist.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
•To plan and deliver occupational therapy assessments and rehabilitative interventions for learners with physical disabilities, sensory integrative disorders, visual processing problems and other occupational therapy related disorders.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
•Conducts diagnostic occupational therapy assessments to learners with physical impairments, sensory Integrative disorders, developmental delays, learning disabilities and other occupational therapy related disorders
•Provides professional expertise and recommendations m the placement of learners with special educational needs inappropriate and relevant educational institutions and programmes Including placement in Maun Centre for Special Education.
•Prepares Individualized assessment reports to guide in the implementation of rehabilitative interventions and support strategies.
•Facilitates modification, adaptation and development of cultural oriented assessment tests for learners with diverse special educational needs
•Develops screening and rehabilitative materials.
•Partakes in the multidisciplinary assessment and rehaMItatlon team in the centre
•Initiates and reviews guidelines for assessment and intervention of children and learners with physical impairments Sensory Integrative disorders, developmental delays, learning dlsaMItles and other occupational therapy related disorders
•Provides occupational therapy rehabilitative Interventions
•Monitors the Implementation of occupational therapy assessment recommendations and rehabilitation plans
•Guides teachers on the development and Implementation of Individualised Rehabilitation Plans (IRPs) and Individualised Educational Plans (lEPs)
•Sensitizes parents, rehabilitation officers, teachers, non governmental organizations and other relevant stakeholder on effective support for learners receiving occupational therapy
•Provides professional expertise and support to departments within the Ministry and other critical stakeholders on relevant policy developments, educational Initiatives and services.
•Maintains comprehensive confidential records of clients under occupational therapy sec ton
•Produces and submits occupational therapy reports to management m the Centre
