Vacancy: Principal Educational Psychologist II – (Special Education), 03 Salary Scale Department of Special Support Services- Maun Centre for Special Education
Applications are Invited from highly motivated and well experienced self-driven citizens of Botswana for the position of Principal Educational Psychologist II – (Special Education) In the Ministry of Education and Skills Development -Department Special Support Services.
SALARY SCALE: D3 (P293 652 – P323 748 per annum).
LEAVE DAYS: 30 Working Days per Annum

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Applicants should have a minimum of Masters Degree in Educational Psychology. with a pre-requisite degree in Psychology or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
•Applicants should have a minimum of 6 years as Educational Psychologist, of which 2 years must have been served as Senior Educational Psychologist or equivalent.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
•To conduct psychological assessments and initiate interventions for children and learners with cognitive, learning problems and other psychological related disorders.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Conducts comprehensive diagnostic psychological assessments to learners with severe to profound intellectual and multiple disabilities.
•Compiles individualised psychological assessment reports to guide in the implementation of Intervention and support strategies.
•Develops screening and rehabilitative materials and tools.
•Facilitates modification, adaptation and development of cultural oriented assessment tests for learners with severe to profound Intellectual and multiple disabilities.
•Initiates and reviews guidelines for assessment and
rehabilitation of children and learners with severe to profound intellectual and multiple disabilities
•Partakes in the multidisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation team.
•Provides diverse psychological interventions including play and family therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, counselling and life skills training.
•Monitors the implementation of psychological assessment recommendations and rehabilitation plans for learners with severe to profound intellectual and multiple disabilities.
•Undertakes client follow ups to track rehabilitative and educational outcomes and offer support
•Works closely with teachers and support personnel to guide on the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualised Educational Plans (lEPs) and Individualized Transition Plans (ITPs) (or learners with Severe to Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities (SPIMD).
•Sensitizes parents, teachers and other critical stakeholders on special education policies, programmes and procedures for effective support.
•Provides professional expertise and support to departments and other critical stakeholders on relevant policy developments, educational initiatives and services.
•Interprets special education policies and procedures to parents, and other critical stakeholders and agencies in the rehabilitation and care of learners with Severe to Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilitie
•Maintains comprehensive learner records.
•Produces and submits educational psychological services reports to management in the Centre
