Main purpose of the job:

To execute functions related to Pharmaceutical Benefit Management (PBM), provide professional advice and assistance in the implementation of pharmaceutical/ clinical management of patients under the schemes and managed care programmes in liaison with service providers, to ensure the efficient, evidence-based and cost-effective provision of services to the Schemes and Members.

Main responsibilities of the job:

  • Acute and chronic medicine benefit management: assesses and reviews relevant Managed Care Programme pre-authorization requests in accordance with the Managed Care or National clinical guidelines and gives feedback to service providers. Assess and determines interventions required for patients failing current regimens. Liaises with the clinical consultant or advisor on clinical management of patients for good therapeutic outcomes.
  • Formulary maintenance: updates the Medicine Price file, maps medicines into the relevant benefit subcategories, reviews and maintains medicine formularies and implements strategies for cost containment.
  • Stakeholder management: effectively manages relations with designated stakeholders, negotiates prices with manufacturers and engages pharmacists and other relevant stakeholders whenever there are changes in prices, policies or guidelines.
  • Reporting: performs profiling activities such as drug utilization reviews, prescribing habit analysis etc. to ensure that service providers comply with standards. and provides regular feedback, on utilization profiles, to service providers as required.

Minimum Educational and Experience requirements: 

  • Degree in Pharmacy or related field.
  • 1 years’ experience as a Pharmacist or similar role.
  • Relevant systems knowledge and applications.
