The National Arts Council of Botswana (NACB) is a body corporate established under the National Arts Council of Botswana Act, No. 10 of 2020.The Council’s mandate is to develop, promote and protect the creative and cultural sector of Botswana through policy, legislation, industry facilitation and various partnerships, programmes, grants, and initiatives. The Council aims to transform the local creative and cultural sector by nurturing excellence and preserving the Nations rich cultural traditions with the goal of building an inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous sector.

PERFORMING ARTS MANAGER
Reporting to Director Creative and Cultural Sector Development
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To plan, organise and manage the performing arts activities of the Council including but not limited to the implementation of the Council’s strategy, plans, programmes and initiatives and related policies and procedures in accordance with the Council’s mandate.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Impactful and innovative initiatives and programmes in the performing arts to promote local arts and culture.
- Develop and implement national programmes to the creative industry in Botswana.
- Availability of workspaces and established libraries to cater for local performing arts and culture practitioners.
- Advocacy for the local performing artists.
- Increased funding and financial investment in the local performing arts sector.
- Improvements in the performing arts and culture curricula in all schools, enhanced training including creative entrepreneurial skills development in the arts and culture sector.
- Performing arts exchanges with other countries for the promotion and development of Botswana’s arts and culture internationally.
- Performing art programmes and initiatives aimed at targeted groups such as the youth, women, children, disabled, orphans, the unemployed, and rural communities.
- Established procedures and processes to recognise and register qualifying societies, companies, or trusts as arts and culture practitioners.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- A Degree in Arts or Cultural Studies such as Humanities, Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Literary Arts, Performing Arts, Design Arts, Film/Cinematography, Media Studies and Digital Arts or related fields from a recognised institution.
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience relevant experience working in performing art forms with arts and cultural organisations of which five (5) years should have been management or supervisor level. Experience leading, developing, managing, or coordinating arts and culture programmes and initiatives is essential.
