Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has an opportunity for a seasoned procurement professional to take up the role of NATIONAL BUYER: NON-FOODS. The position is tenable at the Head Office in Gaborone.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
a) A Botswana General Certificate in Secondary Education (BGCSE) or an equivalent academic qualification. A professional certification in procurement and supply or a higher academic qualification in commerce, business management, entrepreneurship, retail management or a related field of study will be an added advantage.
b) At least five (5) years’ work experience as a buyer or procurement officer in an FMCG business environment. Work experience as a buyer for a division or more than one branches will be preferred.
c) Management experience and practical exposure to the daily operations of an FMCG business entity coupled with thorough understanding of household non-food products.
d) Fully conversant with consumer/market trends and able to capitalize on such trends to enhance business growth opportunities.
e) Possess good negotiation skills required to secure a competitive advantage for the business.
f) Be able to make good buying decisions and resolve queries raised by the branches.
g) Be able to communicate effectively with all management teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
h) Possession of a Class B driver’s license.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position holder will perform the following roles:
a) Coordinate strategic buy-in initiatives for the product categories under his/her portfolio.
b) Source for new suppliers and product offerings to strengthen the company’s product mix.
c) Perform due diligence assessments on all new suppliers before listing them/their products.
d) Negotiate trading terms with suppliers to secure a competitive advantage for the business.
e) Review management reports to measure business performance and draft corrective actions.
f) Plan sales promotions as per the planner and review the success of past sales promotions.
g) Observe market trends, identify business opportunities, and leverage the emerging business opportunities to gain a better market share.
