STRATEGIC IMPACT

The main strategic impact of the role is “to walk the path with the customer” by offering solutions and deal with business rescue matters on behalf of the Bank through;

  1. Improved credit portfolio management practices and reporting value created from increased service delivery to clients.

Reporting significant movements/migration in credit risk.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To ensure an effective On-Going Risk Management process to reduce financial losses for the Bank. Identify risk proactively and to be innovative in dealing with it. The role encompasses portfolio analysis and ad hoc reporting.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

ADMINISTRATION

New disbursements:

  • Ensure data quality and integrity by addressing discrepancies correct loan setup.
  • Check and foster compliance to post disbursement conditions.
  • Manage multiple disbursements and ensure projects are implemented as scheduled.

Portfolio and Arrears Management:

  • Negotiate and monitor payment arrangements.
  • Initiate and implement effective strategies to minimize portfolio arrears.
  • Manage reduction of movement into Non-performing loans as a percentage of total performing book and reduce arrears of assigned portfolio.
  • Identify trends in defaults and alert the supervisor of potential risks.
  • Effective recordkeeping and document all credit related data and communication.
  • Make timely recommendations to foreclose non – performing loans.
  • Efficient management of Credit Balances.

Ongoing Risk Management:

  • Monitor and analyze the monthly movements of Portfolio and report on trends.
  • Effectively manage the ongoing risk management processes; monitoring expired facility documents etc.
  • Be proactive in identifying risk and proactive in dealing with it.
  • Identify and manage high risk clients – (maintaining their database, Client visits, compiling status reports, and devising action plans around Forbearance.
  • Monitor the rehabilitated accounts until they are deemed to be cured – Provide support to the Collections unit in managing Non-Performing Loans including but not limited to financial analysis of the accounts on Rehabilitation.
  • Conduct analysis of the account and make a recommendation as to the extension or modification terms and conditions, if an extension or modification is deemed appropriate.
  • Raise timely provisions as per classification methodology.
  • Risk grade accounts on an ongoing basis as guided by Risk Behavior guidelines to reflect risk level and performing status.
  • Conduct forecast reviews to assess business/project assumptions, risks and forecasts.
  • Foster compliance and Monitor the Credit review processes and re grade
  • facilities on an ongoing basis.
  • Deal with business rescue matters on behalf of the Bank.
  • Provide advisory support to clients on the identified risk as well as advising on innovative solutions.
  • Ensure that project deliverables remain on track as per agreed timeline.
  • Providing daily, weekly and monthly reports to track efficiencies and productivity and highlight trends within individual Portfolio.
  • Assist supervisor with preparation of the Loan Portfolio and Monitoring reports.
  • Verify security and maintain proper register of own portfolio.
  • Carry any other duties as assigned

Agency Role:

  • Responsible for adequate insurance of the Bank’s collateral as well as monitor and manage Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme as well as management of all Agency Business Portfolio.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  • Adhere to credit policies, processes, procedures and standards.

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  • Deliver exceptional Credit service that exceeds customers’ expectations through proactive, innovative and appropriate solutions.
  • Actively interact with the Client Service team giving credit input to ensure responsible risk management.
  • Conduct project visits to evaluate project performance.
  • Provide support but not limited to conducting project visits and/or project financial forecast analysis based on observed portfolio performance and agreed macroeconomic outlook.
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of Third Party Organizations which include but not limited to Government and Insurance companies and conduct bi annual performance reviews.
  • Resolve all customer queries efficiently, and within agreed timelines.​

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Accounting/Economics/Mathematic/Statistics/Banking Degree and or Risk Management or relevant Degree and any professional Study e.g. CIMA/ACCA/CFA
  • AIOB and COP will be an added advantage.
  • A strong quantitative background will be an added advantage.
  • At least 1-2 year’s credit risk management or financial analysis / project management or accounting experience with a demonstrated track record.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in data analysis will be an added advantage.
  • Credit experience will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with loan, legal and collateral documentation (Credit Origination).

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong analytical background with technical skill and competence in the development and delivering of credit portfolio reporting solutions a minimum requirement.
  • Data interrogation skills required (proficient excel user); Knowledge and practical experience in using Microsoft Office.
  • Enterprise programming, experience in Data Modelling will be an added advantage.
  • High attention to detail, able to manage effectively work in a high volume fast paced error free environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Result driven, plan and manage own performance (manage own workflow), anticipating obstacles, juggling priorities and following through on objectives within agreed time-frames and according to quality standards.
  • Good interpersonal skills combined with the ability to influence and communicate concisely.
