Summary:
This position responsible for executing the availed short-term plan, and provide technical input to ensure the safe, profitable and efficient extraction of the Motheo ore reserves.

The role requires a collaborative approach with other departments and contractors across site to ensure that the highest quality ore is delivered to the processing plant whilst supporting and maintaining the mine’s production targets. The Mine Geologist must ensure that all processes of grade control within the value-chain such as sampling, ore loading from the pit, tipping on the ROM pad and blending scenarios are completed in a timely manner and follow the departmental procedures. The Mine Geologist will also provide much needed guidance, training, coaching and mentoring of Geology Technicians and assistants, towards technical excellence and make continuous value adding decisions in the short term across three domains: people work, technical work, and management work.

Key Performance Areas
• Develop and maintain daily, weekly and monthly capture of accurate production data.
• Assist with execution of grade control drilling programs whilst completing the required logging and ensuring procedures are fully adhered to.
• Ensure quality samples are collected during drilling programmes and timely submission of samples to the laboratory.
• Update of resource and grade control modelling wireframes upon completion of drilling campaigns.
• Undertake pit mapping and ensure data is accurately transposed to a digital format suitable for further interrogation and modelling.
• Ensure survey pickups for blast movement monitoring technology, post blast movement processing and adjusting dig plans accordingly before mining to manage ore loss and dilution.
• Ensure compliance to ore loading plans as directed by the mine planning team.
• Ensure that the ore block outs are completed and reviewed by Senior Mine Geologist on time.
• Timely production of daily, weekly and monthly geology reports for review by Senior Mine Geologist.
• Effectively carryout mine to mill reconciliation and ore control management processes. This includes daily weekly and monthly reconciliations.
• Ensuring technical reports are completed with accuracy and provided in accordance with timelines and schedules.
• Consistent adherence to mine plans, maintaining LOM feasibility and operational integrity.
• Manage assigned projects effectively and ensure expenses are only as per budget.
• Provide technical support to Mining, Survey, Geotechnical and Processing teams.
• Continuous guidance of ore spotters on proper ore loading controls and material mined delivered to correct material destinations, ensuring proper stockpile Management on ROM Pads and ore inventory management.
• Ensure that all geology technicians and assistants are acquainted with HSE standards.
• Implementation of Mine Geology standard working procedures and their reviews as required.
• Promote continuous improvement across all facets of TMB Mine Geology.
• Positively contributes to the site safety culture.

Technical Competencies
• Sound knowledge of open pit mining methods, grade control, systems, and procedures.

Qualification & Experience
• BSc (Geology) or equivalent.
• 5 years of Open Pit Mine Production Geology experience.
• Valid Botswana Class B License.
