The Materials Handler / Operator is responsible for offloading, handling and issuing of materials on site, ensuring all materials are accounted for and supplied to contractors as/when required minimising disruption to construction activities.
- Complying with HSE policies and always promoting safe operations.
- Supervising lifting and moving activities of materials
- Operating a Telehandler, Forklift, and Truck to move materials on site
- Issuing of materials to contractors following the correct procedure.
- Supervising delivery drivers into and out of site as required
- Coordinating the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials.
- Counting and stocktaking of materials on site as required
- Checking delivery paperwork, identifying issues and raising with supervisor as required.
- Ensuring basic maintenance standards and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Performing daily inspections of the laydowns to identify safety hazards and security breaches
- Covering Materials as per preservation and storage requirements
- Keeping the Communication flow and coordinating with other departments and customers.
- Daily Housekeeping of Laydowns and containers
Job Specifications:
Selection Criteria | |
Qualifications: | · Telehandler and Forklift operator’s licence.
· Valid Botswana Class B Drivers Licence · Truck Driving Licence preferred

Experience: | · 3+ years of experience within the mining or construction industry
· 3+ years of experience operating materials handling machinery. · Lifting and Rigging experience |
Competencies: | · Strong working knowledge of materials management.
· Strong knowledge of lifting procedures and processes · Excellent leadership and organizational skills. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills. · Problem-solving skills.
