Main Purpose of the Job
Responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring and controlling the organisation’s cash and borrowings in order to optimise its financial position. The Manager, Treasury is also responsible for administering the organisation’s fund raising, currency transactions and cash flow management in order to ensure that it efficiently utilises its financial resources in order to remain liquid and fulfil its financial obligations while optimising its growth and profitability.
Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and implement short,medium and long term investment strategies.
- Manage, direct, and develop Cash flow management strategies.
- Develop a financial risk management policy, in conjunction with Chief Finance Officer and Director, Risk and implement the same.
- Management all aspects of the organisation’s cash flow.
- Perform daily cash flow forecasting and make decisions to ensure the organisation meets its cash requirements.
- Manage all aspects of In-house investment portfolios; directs, monitors investment portfolios.
- Determine the Bank’s tax position and the applicability of taxable/non-taxable instruments.
- Oversee receipts and deposit of cash and Bank transactions.
- Review and recommend changes to the investment policies based on the market conditions.
- Conduct short, medium and long-term financial modelling.
- Evaluate, develop and implement cash management systems to optimize efficiencies.
- Understand and manage appropriate accounting procedures and processes.
- Manage relationships with financial service providers.
- Conduct benchmark studies of other banks and their services to evaluate whether Treasury meets the organisation’s requirements.
- Evaluate alternative long-term borrowing strategies and make recommendations in accordance with the capital structure guidelines.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Membership of an internationally recognised institute of professional accountants (BICA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, etc.) or equivalent professional qualification or relevant Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management or equivalent
Experience:
- Five (5) years’ experience in a financial management and/or accounting role (preferably at a bank or other mass market financial institution) including at least two (2) years at a supervisory level.
- Demonstrated experience utilising a computerised accounting system and detailed knowledge of contracts and change order documents is essential.
