Main Purpose of the Job
Responsible for managing the accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank and card reconciliation processes. The Manager, Reconciliation Accountant also ensures that organisational guidelines which minimize reconciliation errors and improve process effectiveness and efficiency are in place; reviews the organisation’s accounts and validates that they align with third party transaction data and investigates errors and discrepancies.
Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Develop policies, procedures and controls for reconciliation metrics, including loss prevention procedures for incoming and outgoing wires.
- Develop working knowledge of reconciliation best practices and standards.
- Conduct and report the assignment, management and resolution of breaks for all reconciliations implemented including aging metrics and pattern identification.
- Lead the analysis of the existing reconciliation processes in order to assess the strength of the controls and identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor payment reconciliation functions.
UNDERTAKE OTHER RELATED ACTIVITIES AS DIRECTED BY HEAD, BANKING OPERATIONS
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Membership of an internationally recognised institute of professional accountants (BICA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, etc.) or equivalent professional qualification or relevant.
- Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management or equivalent.
Experience:
- Five (5) years’ experience in a financial management and/or accounting role (preferably at a bank or other mass market financial institution) including at least two (2) years at a supervisory level.
- Demonstrated experience utilising a computerised accounting system and detailed knowledge of contracts and change order documents is essential.
