PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To source and capture financial and non financial data and produce reports for planning and decision making.The job encompasses production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and other statutory reports in accordance with the required standards, laws and regulations.

STRATEGIC IMPACT:

  • The role is critical in ensuring provision of management financial reporting to aid decision making.
  • Planning and decision support in cost planning, budgeting and forecasting

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTING:

  • Analyze internal and external data/information for planning and decision making.
  • To prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and statutory reports
  • Coordination and compilation of the annual budget for the Bank
  • Report performance against the budgeted and report any deviations which might affect the achievement of corporate objectives.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts to provide insight into the likely results as at year end and measures that can be put in place towards the achievement of planned results.
  • Evaluate the viability of the Bank’s projects that requires substantial capital outlay to determine if it is a reasonable return on investment.

COMPLIANCE AND GOVERNANCE:

  • To ensure that all general ledgers and sub ledgers for NDB are completed in accordance with the international accounting standards.
  • To prepare statistics and compliance reports for stakeholders
  • To implement and maintain accounting procedures and controls to ensure adherence to accounting regulations, systems and procedures.
  • To ensure that tight financial controls and maintenance for the reconciliation of key accounting functions are introduced and maintenance for the reconciliation of key accounting functions, e.g. document approval, cash deposits, petty cash, and credit cards.

SUPPORT SERVICE:

  • To develop a service oriented approach within the finance department in order to facilitate departmental and business unit co-operation.
  • To provide efficient and effective service delivery to clients.
  • To ensure the integrity and reliability of customer information.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

  • To manage, develop staff, set key performance areas and monitor performance.
  • To instill a culture of measuring performance and rewarding contribution.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • B. Comm, Accounting, HND or equivalent, AAT
  • plus ACCA part 2 or CIMA level 2.
  • At least 4-6  years experience in the supervision of a computerized accounting and financial system with a demonstrated track record.
