Purpose of the Role

To specify requirements for completing all approved maintenance work

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Creates new or amends existing job templates for the work package under planning detailing all the requirements for approved work.
  • Enables the work management process flow by ensuring that all required resources (eg labour, materials, skills, tools, etc) for approved work are identified, specified and procured in line with requirements
  • Determines the requirements of additional or skilled labour needs to be added into the planning process and creates task into the plan
  • Identifies and escalates all critical issues that threaten the successful planning of work for completion by the required date
  • Determines if planned costs in terms of labour, material, equipment, tools, contract services and any other costs on the work order are within the set upper cost limit
  • Specifies applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures in job templates
  • Manages the work order Task Status Report (TSR) on daily basis to assist in prioritising the planned work and track upcoming work
  • Specifies conditions and constraints that must be applied to each task within a work package eg specific operating conditions, what to maintain or restrict during work
  • Identifies potential hazards and risks specifying methods of control, how to evaluate effectiveness of control and the approach to be used as well as permit requirements
  • Specifies the sequence for completion of work packages tasks in terms of constraints/precedents, the latest start date and the earliest start date on tasks within a work package

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Specifies requirements to maintain record of progress of each stage of long and/or complex tasks and job history to be reported upon completion of work order or task
  • Validates that the planning for a task is being executed to the required standard by reviewing the planning content of selected work packages and documenting decisions on whether additions or changes to the planning content are needed
  • Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies in area of responsibility taking cognisance of all legal requirements
  • Analyses the sectional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet business needs.
  • Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets
  • Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures in area of responsibility

Education

  • National Craft Certificate (NCC)

Experience

4 years as Maintenance Artisan/Technician

Legal Certification/Professional Registration
