Legal Specialist

Reporting to the Director – Legal and Corporate Affairs, the incumbent will be responsible for providing legal advice on commercial and organizational matters, to perform reviews of legal documents and to support the business in the resolution of claims and disputes through appropriate internal processes and third-party collaboration (external counsel).

The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance on contracts, litigation, commercial and labour matters.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal documents including contracts, agreements, and legal opinions.
  • Represent the business in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations and assist with court proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to stay abreast of developments in relevant areas of law and provide proactive advice to the business.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Handle complex legal matters independently and efficiently, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
  • Advice on data protection matters as needed, leveraging any expertise in this area to add value to the team.

 

Skills:

  • Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 7 years of post-admission experience.
  • Strong expertise in commercial law, with a proven track record of success in these areas.
  • Experience in litigation is essential.
  • Additional expertise in data protection is highly desirable.
  • Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law
  • Admitted Attorney with minimum of 7 years post admission experience
  • Strong expertise in commercial law, with proven track record of success in these areas
  • Experience in litigation is essential
  • Additional experience in data protection is highly desirable
