DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS

VACANCY No. IRC 2109

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the lecturer position in Special Education, Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education.

Duties: The successful candidate is expected to: (i) teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Special and/or Inclusive Education. (ii) actively participate in the supervision and assessment of graduate students. (iii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the Department, including teaching practice, research, and curriculum review, and (iv) carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Applicants should have a (i) Doctorate in any of the following areas: (i) Special education, inclusive education, and special and inclusive education. (ii) Master’s degree in special education, inclusive education, or special and inclusive education (iii) Bachelor’s degree in special or Inclusive Education provided their area of concentration demonstrates courses in intellectual and developmental disabilities or mental retardation. (iv). Show evidence of engagement in research. Added advantage: (v) Teaching experience at a university or comparative institution. (vi) Showing evidence of governance and social engagement.

N.B. Applicants with relevant Master’s degree in special education, inclusive education, or special and inclusive education with a Bachelor’s degree in special or Inclusive Education with at least 2(i) or equivalent provided their area of concentration demonstrates courses in intellectual and developmental disabilities or mental retardation may be considered under special circumstances
