LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (CONTRACT POSITION)
VACANCY NO: COO/HS01/2024
Duties: Successful candidates will be expected to: (i) assist the medical laboratory scientist by initiating budget needs for supplies and ensuring laboratory stock availability ; (ii) plan and manage the utilization of laboratory equipment and supplies as per set protocols; (iii) Prepare, handles, stores and transport specimens and samples for testing (iv) analyze samples in house or at other designated partner laboratories; (v) review all laboratory results before dispatch and reports critical test results (vi) develop educational materials for the UB community on laboratory tests and monitoring (vii) Implement safety guidelines and procedures (viii) Supervise subordinates and monitors their progress through the performance management system (ix) prepare reports on services provided (x)laboratory data/information management (xi) and attend to any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements: Candidates should have: (i) Diploma or High National Diploma in Medical Laboratory or equivalent (ii) Relevant Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage. (iii) At least three (3) years’ experience working in a Medical Laboratory or working in a District and or National Referral Hospital (iv) Registration with Botswana Health Professions Council
Qualities: Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication. Ability to work effectively with students, staff and family members, Ability to work independently to manage multiple priorities, Computer literacy.
