Role Purpose

To lead, direct and oversee the Council’s Teacher Professional Services function and facilitate teacher registration, licensing, continuous professional development and other teacher support services through established policies, standards, and regulations as part of Council’s teacher professionalisation mandate.

Key Performance Areas

·       Availability and implementation of the Council strategy on teacher professionalisation.

·       Availability and maintenance of policy on Professional Qualifications for Teachers.

·       Availability and maintenance of Professional Teaching Standards and Regulations.

·       Availability of teaching accreditation requirements.

·       Efficient registration and licensing of teachers.

·       Efficient roll-out of Continuous Professional Development programmes and training.

·       Efficient and effective teacher support services.

·       Complete, accurate and up-to-date database of registered and licensed teachers.

·       Achievement of strategic goals and targets within set timelines and budgets.

Key Requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities or related field.

·       At least fifteen (15) years post qualification experience. At least five (5) of these years should have been spent in an executive leadership role preferably in a regulatory environment or in a teaching role in the education sector.
