Investment Analyst – Local Equities

Role Summary

The role supports the Portfolio Manager in implementing the strategy for all local equity portfolios within Bifm. This includes conducting research, building financial valuation models, writing research reports, performing portfolio analytics, and executing trades.

Role Responsibility

Equity Research

  • Conduct fundamental and quantitative research on listed equities.
  • Assist with financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and company performance.
  • Prepare research reports and presentations for the investment team.
  • Support the Portfolio Manager in trade execution and strategy formulation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and regular interactions with stakeholders and counterparties to keep abreast of all relevant issues.

Client Relations

  • Assist the team with client queries by demonstrating knowledge of the market, key performance drivers, and investment outlook.
  • Assist with the preparations of client presentations.

Qualifications & Role Specific Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or related Investment Management discipline.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or working towards attaining the CFA designation is a requirement. Other Professional qualifications (CAIA, FRM, CIMA, ACCA) are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of one (1) year post qualification in the financial services industry, preferably in asset management with a focus on financial modeling and equity valuation.

Competencies

  • Strong understanding of financial markets, economic indicators, and investment principles.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
