Infrastructure Manager
Job Summary:
Contributes to the development of the IT Strategy; oversees, manages, coordinates and provides administrative and directional leadership to staff and set future direction within the areas of Information Technology Security, Systems Administration, Databases, Desktop Support and Network Infrastructure.
The role also facilitates and oversees the secure processing and management of data, messaging and communication services, business continuity services, optimal utilization of ICT solutions and services, change management, digital transformation, technology governance and risk management, documentation and enforcement of policies, project management and contract management in meeting BIHL Group operational requirements.
The purpose of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the infrastructure landscape supplying IT services to the BIHL Group.
Key Performance Areas
Infrastructure Architecture and Design
Infrastructure Architecture and Design
- Plans, implements, monitors and maintains all activities related to the implementation of technology strategy
- Provides specialised technical advice in the planning and development of new services, expansion and upgrade of existing infrastructure
- Develops, improves and assists with technical and impact analyses, and makes recommendations(new technologies and systems impact assessment)
- Coordinates the analysis of business requirements (new or existing) to identify impact on infrastructure requirements, taking remedial action as appropriate
- Executes business requirements into technical solution documentation consisting of workflows, architectural diagrams, and oversees the effective management of major projects supporting the IT vision.
System, Network & Database Administration
- Coordinates the planning, implementation and provides support for patch management, electronic messaging, DHCP, email, collaboration platforms, active directory, and DNS.
- Applies technical skills to accomplish job effectively; helps others to solve technical/procedural problems and issues related to own field of expertise.
- Diagnose and resolve complex systems, backup, servers, network and storage incidents and problems, , and second level service requests by applying professional level technical and non-technical expertise.
- Promptly responds to systems, database and network administration related incidents and second level technical service requests and applies technical expertise in investigation and troubleshooting.
- Ensure effective monitoring of the systems and the datacentre using appropriate tools.
- Collate network, server, database and storage monitoring system performance and utilization statistics, security incident and event data, and activity status to produce weekly/monthly and on demand reports.
Financial
- Contributes to the preparation and on-going management of the Technology budget and the delivery of cost effective, timely and reliable business solutions and support activities within this budget
IT Processes & Business Continuity
- Develops & Maintains disaster recovery & Business continuity plans (DRM)
- Develops DR processes to ensure adherence to policies and guidelines
Cyber Security
- Implements, administers, and supports security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions points.
- Performs user training on system usage, policies, and procedures.
- Conducts regular testing of the BIHL network to ensure regulator requirements are met
Service Levels Agreement fulfilment & Reporting
- Develops Service Level Agreements to ensure compliance in the delivery of service
- Develops departmental reports as and when required by the various management forums (Steerco/Exco)
Team Management & Training
- Responsible for the development of the Infrastructure team development
- Provide coaching and mentoring to direct reports
- Collaborates with other team members to ensure the integrity and availability of the organization’s technology systems.
Vendor Management
- Performs and validates assets and inventory management for licenses, software, and hardware within the approved Framework
- Accountable for recommending and executing action on non-performing contractors.
- Evaluates new technologies and make recommendations to the executive on their potential impact on the organization’s technology services.
- Accountable for management of all 3rd party infrastructure related Service Level Agreements.

Experience
- 8 years post qualification experience in IT systems management
- 5 years at a management role
Qualification
- Degree in Information Technology
- Industry standard qualifications (VMware, HP, Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft, Enterprise Disaster Recovery)
