Purpose of the Role

To interpret Human Resource (HR) Business requirements and manage implementation of HR processes activities/projects in area of responsibility.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Analyses the operations resourcing needs and capability to ensure people resources are in place to deliver business results in accordance with established procedures
  • Analyses trends in the HR arena, in line with best practice principles, assessing their possible impact on the HR strategy and develops appropriate strategies in the interest of continuous improvements
  • Builds line management capacity on various HR related issues, to ensure common understanding and application
  • Develops and implements action plans to improve standards by identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within existing processes; measuring findings against the strategic impacts
  • Develops and manages implementation plans for all people related decisions from various forums / decision making bodies, to ensure consistency and timely application of decisions, eg JNCC
  • Develops operational HR plans and coordinates implementation through optimal allocation of resources in line with short, medium and long term plans, taking cognisance of organisational people objectives
  • Facilitates the development of Labour Forecasts in line with short, medium and long term business strategic plans
  • Facilitates the implementation of remuneration management system and ensures compliance to corporate governance principles
  • Identifies and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements
  • Identifies demands in human resources service and shortcomings in information dissemination and other related systems/service and initiates recommendations to meet these needs such as work flows/ processes and performance appraisal trends
  • Identifies the need for capacity building on employees and refers to the ER manager for development of appropriate interventions to address the deficiency
  • Implements and manages Human Resources change initiatives to ensure success of the end state
  • Initiates, monitors and controls short term sectional projects to ensure attainment of desired results
  • Interpreting HR information systems requirements and making recommendations for improved systems and processes to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Interprets and manages implementation of HR strategy to meet the operation’s medium and long term plans in area of responsibility
  • Interprets human resources policies and procedures to ensure consistent application of same in areas of responsibility and advises / initiates corrective action where necessary
  • Maintaining service level agreements, technical co-ordination and ensuring standardisation across the functional area, through constant evaluation of incongruences
  • Manages the development of HR operations business processes in the area of responsibility continuously evaluating and assessing their efficiency and effectiveness
  • Monitoring implementation of end to end HR processes, ensuring alignment with the law, SLAs, policies, procedures, corporate governance and best practice and making remedial recommendations for continuous improvements
  • Oversees the implementation of OE and Talent management interventions in line with developed frameworks
  • Provides an employee relations consultancy service to employees including advise to both parties on what is impacting their relationship
  • Manages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters to meet the business objectives.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent

Experience

7 years experience with at least 3 years at middle management (HRBP) level
