Duties
The HIV Care and Treatment Program Officer is a key public health advisor to the branch chief and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Country Director. The incumbent’s responsibilities include day-to-day program and administrative management, and coordination and collaboration with other President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) agencies to ensure that project implementation addresses program strategic objectives and internationally recognized public health standards and best practices.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
Five-years of work experience in public health, hospital or clinic based setting with experience in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating HIV programs is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Thorough public health knowledge of current HIV/AIDS issues is required; comprehensive knowledge of the host government health care system and structures including familiarity with Ministry of Health (MOH) policies, program priorities and regulations is required and good working knowledge of public health programs, strategies, methods, processes and techniques used to plan, develop, implement and evaluate results of care and treatment programs is required.
Education Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Science, and Health Care Management from a recognized institution is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) English in speaking, reading, and writing is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communications skills; ability to analyze, understand and discuss new program design, management and implementation approaches, this includes the development of evaluation designs, use of reliable and valid instruments, and methods for data collection, analysis and reports; ability to lead project teams and workgroups and to develop effective working relationships with national and international working partners is required.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Gaborone, Botswana may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
