Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results driven Head of Risk to join our dynamic organization. As Head of Risk, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of risk management strategies, policies and procedures to mitigate potential financial, credit, operational and compliance risks.

Job Details

  • Develop and implement the organization’s risk management strategy, policies and procedures
  • Establish a country risk management framework consisting of adequate controls, compliance policies, processes and methods to assess overall and business unit risk profiles.
  • Identify, assess and prioritize various risks (operational, financial, credit, market/liquidity) that could impact the business
  • Conduct risk assessments to evaluate the potential impact and likelihood of identified risks
  • Develop and maintain an internal control framework to mitigate risks and enhance the organization’s operational efficiency
  • Develop adequate and relevant collection strategy commensurate with the size and risk of the portfolio.
  • Create significant capability in Collections and Recoveries Analytics to ensure that all collection and recovery activities are carried out in compliance with the agreed standards and with due recognition of the regulatory guidelines within the country and the overall Operational Risk Framework.
  • Analyse, identify risk, and provide recommendation or approve credit application and borrower rating requested by front line to create good quality of portfolio with benefits to company
  • Conduct regular review and monitoring of credit risk models and liaise with model validation during its annual model validation cycle
  • Ensure that sound credit risk measurement and monitoring frameworks are developed and implemented
  • Maintain robust monitoring of macroeconomic trends and emerging credit risks, competitive landscape and credit portfolio performance to generate insights that inform risk appetite, financial forecasting and business decisions.
  • Implements and maintains a sound enterprise-wide integrated risk management governance framework.
  • Measures country risk and provides analytical support to business lines in risk measurement, modelling, and reporting.
  • Oversees and manages Anti-Money Laundering  Financing control activity in all relevant business areas to establish a reasonable threshold level of control consistency
  • Identifies known and emerging risks, including measuring, monitoring and reporting on the risk profile.
  • Facilitates the maintenance of country risk corporate policies, including credit, operational risk, compliance, security and portfolio valuation, information security, physical security, business continuity planning, and limit breaches.
  • Provide independent and objective risk analyses in conjunction with critical strategic and operational decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, Business Administration or related fields
  • Master’s Degree would be an added advantage
  • International certifications in Risk management, such as CIRM, CRCM, ICM, or equivalent
  • At least 13 years of proven experience, of which 5 were in senior leadership roles within the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated capacity to translate commercial strategies into risk profiles and risk assessments
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong network with regulatory bodies and government authorities
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing Enterprise Risk Management strategy and governance, risk and compliance activities
  • Strong understanding of financial/,banking sector regulations market trends and developments
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Risk and strategic implications on business i.e. Credit, Operational, Liquidity, Market,
  • Strong knowledge on portfolio risk management techniques, (e.g. loan books, credit lines)
  • In-depth knowledge of collections and recoveries strategies, tools, systems and techniques
  • Practical knowledge of consumer and commercial lending origination, portfolio management strategies, pension plan investments and capital markets including but not limited to money markets, securitization, fixed income and interest rate markets and associated risks
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, expectations and business impacts.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams
  • Exceptional strategic thinking capabilities backed by strong analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills (i.e., problem definition & structuring, analysis definition, insight generation & recommendation generation)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to work with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business and regulatory requirements
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial and accounting management software
