The University of Botswana seeks to recruit a Head of Protection Services in the Department of Facilities Management. This position plays a critical role overseeing and managing all aspects of the University’s security and protection measures.

Duties: a) Develop and implement strategies, policies, processes and procedures to ensure the safety and security of the University, its assets, employees, students and key stakeholders. b) Monitor and evaluate the performance of Protection Services operations against established goals and objectives identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective action as needed. c) Oversee the design of operational methods/ models and implementation of security technologies (access control systems, video surveillance and cybersecurity measures). D) Conduct periodic risk assessments to identify potential security risks and areas of improvement. e) Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to enable effective delivery of the departmental mandate, as necessary. f) Participate in recruitment, ensure retention and development of a diverse team, supporting sectional level professional development activities, including mentoring, training, and identifying opportunities for advancement of staff.

Position Requirements: a) A minimum of Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Policing or any other related field. b) A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience, five (5) years of which should have been at middle management level, Higher Education experience will be an added advantage. c) Extensive experience in security management, with a proven track record of leadership. d) Deep understanding and knowledge of security laws, regulations, and industry best practices. e) Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. f) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement. g) Proficiency in security technology and systems.
