Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the position is responsible for coordinating activities and managing drilling contractor for Motheo Mine Drilling activities.
This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing drilling activities across the A1 Project which forms part of the expanded Motheo operating hub. The incumbent will be responsible for guiding the overall direction of drilling activities – ensuring quality data is collected from drilling and logging processes to inform updated geological models and build the resource base in readiness for near-term scoping and feasibility studies.
Key Performance Areas
- Effective supervision of drilling and sampling activities ensuring safe execution of project
- Recommend and incorporate cost saving initiatives into budgets and control expenditure within approved parameters
- Ensures that all data relevant for end users/ stakeholders is collected
- Make contributions to general understanding of deposits and the Kalahari Copperbelt.
- Contributes to development and adherence to project schedules.
- Confidently interpret collected data and ensure geological understanding is shared across the team.
- Make inputs to Dynamic Model updates with interpreted geological information
- Supervises contractors working on Motheo Copper Mine Geology projects.
- Ensures appropriate upkeep of Company assets.
- Ensure high quality samples are collected and dispatched to the lab
- Ensure prompt submission of validated data to the Database team
- Interfacing effectively with all stakeholders.

Qualification & Experience
- BSc (Geology) or equivalent
- Valid Botswana Class B License
- At least 5 years working experience.
- Minimum 3 years Kalahari Copperbelt experience with proven core logging record.
- Demonstratable experience in Micromine and Leapfrog
- Mining experience will be an added advantage
