 In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 03 March 2024. 

Main purpose of the position

To effectively and efficiently perform general plant duties in accordance with instructions, laid down procedures, safety and housekeeping standards

Job Responsibilities

  • Operates basic equipment in the plant to enhance plant cleaning and housekeeping by following strict, detailed instructions.
  • Collects and delivers tools and tackles required for plant housekeeping accurately and timeously as instructed for effective and efficient cleaning activity.
  • De-bushes in designated areas to prevent accidents and interference with operations by using basic hand tools following detailed instructions.
  • Clears spillages resulting from process defects to ensure the plant is kept and run in a tidy environment and improve safety in the workplace following approved housekeeping standards.
  • Removes ash, coal etc. from plant trenches by use of approved tools as directed by the Supervisor to avoid blockages and improve water collection and flow all the time
  • Performs simple facilities tasks by following established procedures and support others as instructed by the Supervisor
  • Carries out manual responsibilities such as loading and unloading of deliveries in a safe manner as directed by the Supervisor
  • Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material
  • Performs basic maintenance and repair tasks for equipment under close supervision while following detailed instructions
  • Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace to maintain personnel and plant safety all the time.
  • Recommends additions to the development of risk assessments to the supervisor to ensure that there is improvement on plant risks and mitigations

Qualifications

  • A minimum of BGCSE
  • A valid Class B Driver’s License is required.
