GENERAL PHARMACIST x2 – (GABORONE & MAUN)

Main Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Responsible Pharmacist, the main purpose of this position will be to process prescriptions and dispense medicines to patients in line with professional and quality standards in adherence to all rules governing pharmacy practice.

Key Performance Areas

  • Offer basic consultation to walk-in customers without prescriptions for over-the-counter drugs.
  • Ensure that all medication dispensed online claims have been submitted and levies collected as may be appropriate.
  • Manage, evaluate and control operational costs in line with the set financial policies and procedures; work with the billing staff to ensure compliance with the MRI financial policies and procedures and monitor the billing and payments for all services in the Pharmacy Operation.
  • Monitor and evaluate adherence to Pharmacy Professional Practice Standards, Standard Operating Procedures, Customer Service Standards, and all regulatory standards required for licensure as set up by the Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BOMRA) and maintenance of standards.
  • Ensure that Habit-Forming Drugs (HFD’s) are managed properly as per the Medicines and Related Substances Act.
  • Produce and compile periodic reports on the pharmacy operations as may be directed.
  • Ensure high levels of clinical quality and customer service at all times.
  • Monitor stock levels to avoid frequent stock-outs, over-stocking, and expiry.
  • Monitor the department risk profile regularly and initiate risk reduction measures.
  • This role will also include the preparation and management of staffing plans for subordinate staff to ensure they are adequately deployed to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications and Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master of Pharmacy degree
  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
  • Valid Pharmacy Private Practice License.
  • Valid registration with Botswana Health Professions Council
  • Conversant with various dispensing systems.
