The work schedule for this position is:
- Full time – 40 hours per week
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Executes all gardening tasks for the Chancery, Principal Officer, DCR, MSG residence, and temporary and vacant residences. Also assists with individual and unique gardening tasks at other residents as instructed. Responsible for all aspects of gardening operations at the Chancery compound, CMR, DCR, MSG residence, as well as temporarily occupied and vacant residences. Must work with the supervisory gardener to divide his/her time accordingly between the various work locations. This work includes: planting and maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and all other forms of vegetation at the properties. Responsible for requesting required equipment, supplies, seeds, fertilizers, etc., as necessary. Responsible for maintaining and keeping all equipment in proper working order at all times.
Qualifications and Evaluations
A minimum of one-year gardening experience is required.
Must be familiar with gardening techniques, gardening layout, irrigation requirements, proper garden appearance, and tools required to achieve desired conditions.
Completion of primary school education is required
Level I (Rudimentary) English ability and Level II (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Setswana is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to use all tools of the gardening trade. Knowledge of the appropriate use of fertilizers and pesticides as recommended by the Department of State. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have current valid Botswana driver’s license.

Benefits and Other Info
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Gaborone, Botswana may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
